Our Verdict |
Like all new operating systems there are a few glitches still to iron out. But this seems to be a more stable and reliable installation than some of MS earlier attempts at new launches. (remember the early copies of '95) If you're desperate to upgrade then this may be worth the 80 price tag. If not then wait a month or so and learn from other peoples experiences (and / or patch fixes). Windows 98 provides many fixes to problems encountered in Windows 95 whilst maintaining the familiar feel of 95. For those of you already using IE4 you'll soon realise that very little feels to have changed it just seems to run smoother and slicker. For those who have not used IE4 you soon will be, its currently bundled with the operating system. You can disentangle IE4 from the browser, but our recommendation is to leave it there and install Netscape Communicator as well! The two will run happily along side each other, dispite the media and US Government hype! Why settle for anything less when you can have both! |
