Mischievous people with a computer,
a phone line and an internet account
have made 1999 a banner year for
computer viruses.

About 15 new ones appear every day,
say experts. Some, infections known
as worms, are spreading across record
distances in record times.

traded floppy disks. They now move on
the net and can cover the planet in a
weekend.
