The US Supreme Court has voted to throw out the act that would
have outlawed free speech on the Internet.

Nine judges in the court ruled that the Communications Decency Act
violated the US constitution's First Amendment guaranteeing free speech.

The ruling is being viewed as the Magna Carta for the Net and has prompted
one Internet standards group, the WWW Consortium to push its platform
for internet content selection towards more widespread adoption.

The initiative allows contents on web sites to be labelled as to its suitability,
similar to the UK film censor's rating such as 15, PG and 18, for movies.

Another proposal is that all software used to access the Internet should
have a set of buttons on screen allowing parent to classify by age what
they want to be seen.

F.N.S. Limited was 100% behind the Freedom of speech campaign
and is in favour of these new proposals.

The NET should remain a free speech domain and people should have the
right to choose.
